Around the World in 80 Days gets a circus-style makeover

By Caroline King - March 16, 2023Posted in : Cabaret, FEATURED-STORIES, Theatre

This spring and summer, join a rag-tag band of travelling circus performers who’re embarking on their most daring feat yet. Tilted Wig are recreating Phileas Fogg’s race around the world with acrobats, knife throwers and clowns. This circus-meets-theatre production of Jules Verne’s iconic story Around the World in 80 Days is touring the UK until July 2023.

Jules Verne’s original characters are transformed in this adaptation, embracing different modes of transport as they journey across the globe. So, join the Ringmaster, the Acrobat, the Clown, the Trick Rider, and the Knife Thrower on their frantic race to travel Around the World in 80 Days.

Cast members are taking on multiple roles throughout the performances, whilst also playing one lead role each. Alex Phelps (As You Like It, Shakespeare’s Globe) is playing the role of the determined Ringmaster. Taking on the role of the Acrobat, is actor and puppeteer Katriona Brown (There’s a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom and Other Stories, Little Angel Theatre).

Genevieve Sabherwal (My Grandma’s a Walrus, Southwark Playhouse) is performing as the Trick Rider. Wilson Benedito (50 Ways to Kill Your Lover, Amazon) provides comedic relief as The Clown. Rounding off the cast as the sharp-witted Knife Thrower is Eddie Mann (Rocketman, Paramount).
