Fancy watching a Vivaldi concert by candlelight in an art deco gem? The Belmont Ensemble and Trafalgar Sinfonia will be presenting performances of The Four Seasons in the Grand Temple of the Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden.
The concerts will take place this weekend, as well as in July, August and November. And the concerts will also include music by Bach, Handel and Pachelbel.
The Grand Temple at Freemasons’ Hall is located in the heart of Covent Garden and it’s Grade II listed. This extraordinary building often hosts non-masonic events and has been used as a filming location a number of times. And this series of concerts offers audiences another chance to peek inside this London gem. As well as listen to some of London’s finest musicians, of course. June’s concert will be the first opportunity for these gifted musicians to perform together since the start of the pandemic, and the first opportunity for you to hear them perform too.
If you fancy heading along, do take time to look at the majestic organ and its ornate pipes, as well as the stunning mosaics that surround the ceiling. This unusual building was designed as a pentagon to suit the irregular space in which it is located and is richly decorated with details of blue, gold and white.
The concerts will each last one hour and will be held in COVID-19 safe conditions, in line with current government regulations.
