This summer, The Revel Puck Circus will be filling their Big Top with quirky performances as they bring their new show to East London. The Wing Scuffle Spectacular is a celebration of fear, featuring clowning, aerial acrobatics and lots of fun.
After selling out their first production The Big Bagaga Show, the company are back with this fresh show that celebrates fear in all its absurdity.
A contemporary circus spectacular
Embracing The Revel Puck’s artistic mission of redefining circus’ place in culture, The Wing Scuffle Spectacular explores what is usually hidden. Circus is the art form that teeters close to the brink of danger, yet most companies mask the associated fear in their work.
However, after a year of anxious uncertainty, they believe it’s time to celebrate the fear. To laugh with it and to revel in it together. Without fear how can we learn or grow as people? So, The Wing Scuffle Spectacular is a joyous, absurd flirtation with danger, rejoicing as we confront fear, and laugh in its face. Sounds good, right?
The new Revel Puck show
So, what can you expect from the show? Well, firstly, it’s going to be immersive. You’ll be led through the artists’ village of caravans. Maybe catching a glimpse of the company preparing for the show, or even being offered a cup of tea. Speaking of which, food vendors will be equipped with candy floss and popcorn, along with a well-stocked bar, to complete this escapist world.
Amongst the performers will be Fiona Thornhill, who toured her solo Cyr Wheel act with Cirque Dreams in USA in 2019. And multi-award-winning unicyclist and clown Sam Goodburn. Plus, aerial straps artist Imani Vital and cloud swing artist Annie Zita. There’ll be joined by teeterboard trio Seb Parker, Shane Hampden and Emily Lannigan, as well as tightrope walker Poppy Plowman and juggler Luke Hallgarten.
The Revel Puck company are renowned for their mockumentary Don’t Join The Circus. And they will be the only contemporary circus show in the UK to feature large-scale circus disciplines such as teeterboard, cloud swing and tightwire in a big-top this year.
