This weekend, there’ll be lots of free outdoor performances to enjoy with the family, along the Dorset coast. It’s all part of Pavilion Dance South West’s BounceBack Dance Festival.
Celebrating the British summer and bringing the joy of dance to locations across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, the festival has already been busy entertaining those enjoying half term. These lively performances will continue over the weekend with giant sea puppets and hip-hop dance.
Over the weekend, there’ll be outdoor physical performances from Autin Dance Theatre as they bring OUT OF THE DEEP BLUE to Poole Quay. The piece will be highlighting the biodiversity and climate emergency this planet is facing, with the help of a giant sea puppet.
And on Friday and Saturday, Simple Cypher will be bringing Roll Play to Bournemouth’s Triangle. It’s a show about small acts of kindness. A folding bench is the meeting point for three strangers from different walks of life and what unfolds is a series of playful interactions that aim to challenge us.
Also in Bournemouth, will be two performances of Born to Protest on the PDSW Terrace. It’s a piece that responds to the lived experiences of Black men through hip-hop dance. You can catch this on Saturday. Whilst on Sunday, young local dancers will perform Meeting Point, along with a live musician, at Branksome Dene Beach.
