Theatre that is literally on your doorstep

By Caroline King - January 13, 2021Posted in : FEATURED-CONTENT, Theatre

When you can’t go out to the theatre, why not let the theatre come to you? This winter, the Doorstep Puppet Theatre are bringing their show, The Little Mermaid Finds Her Voice to your door.

This new show, based on Hans Christian Anderson’s classic fairy tale, features a world of magical creatures and lots of shadow puppetry.

I wish I had never given my voice away… Well, it’s never too late to get it back.

When the Little Mermaid is finally allowed to go to the surface of the ocean, she falls hook, line and sinker for the dashing Prince. Isn’t that always the way? Desperate to be with him, she does a deal with the Sea Witch and trades her voice for a nifty pair of legs. But once on land, everything is not as it seems…

A show that travels to you

Who are the Doorstep Puppet Theatre? Well, they’re a professional theatre duo who’ve found a way to bring a smile back onto family’s faces. They’ll be travelling to people’s gardens, paths and driveways to bring socially-distanced and Covid-secure shows. If you’d like to enjoy a visit from the theatre, you’ll need to be in London Zones 1 to 4. You’ll need an outside space that can be accessed without needing to go inside your home, but that’s it really.

Join the Doorstep Puppet Theatre as they dive into a world of magical creatures, breath-taking colours and wild adventures!

And if you’re still keen on catching the latest theatre shows during lockdown, check out these online shows.

When: 22nd January – 28th February 2021. Shows run Friday to Sunday and every day during half term (15th – 21st February)
Where: In your garden, yard or driveway – on your doorstep!
£: It costs £70 per performance, with 10% of your ticket fee going to the Little Angel Theatre and Kiln Theatre. The show is about 25 minutes long and is suitable for ages 6+ years
