In normal times, we would be encouraging everyone to get out and about on a quirky New Year’s walk. But, with a new normal comes new ideas, and this January we’re encouraging you to get online to discover more about our capital city.
This month, take an alternative virtual tour with Footprints of London, to explore London from the comfort of your home. The tours cover an eclectic range of subjects from Alternative Art Deco Delights and Pubs, Penicillin, Pineapples and Plaques, to Dickens After Dark and St James’ Gentlemen’s Clubs – Victorian London’s LinkedIn.
Alternative Deco Delights takes place this evening (5th January) and will explore ten of London’s lesser-known art deco gems. There will be a Q&A after the tour too. This weekend, Pubs, Penicillin, Pineapples and Plaques will allow you to explore Paddington, old and new. Find out why the area was nicknamed Stinking Paddington and the Paddington Alps!
Next week, take a tour through Bermondsey and find out about the inspirational Ada Salter. Or take a new virtual tour to discover the history of Fleet Street. And, if you fancy taking a stroll into the murky night, why not join the Dickens After Dark virtual tour?
Later in the month, take a journey from the Isle of Dogs to Blackwall, or explore the lost and forgotten railways of London.
There’s even more virtual tours on the Footprints of London website, so head on over to get exploring! And if you’re looking for more inspirational online events, check out these.
