This November, Art on a Postcard will return with its annual Winter Auction, giving bidders the chance to own a small but perfectly formed piece of art.
The Winter Auction will be heading online this time around, but is still hoping to raise plenty of funds for the Hepatitis C Trust helpline.
Another new feature of this winter’s Art on a Postcard event, is a new interactive online show. Art exhibition platform gowithYamo will be hosting a full programme of events. This includes podcasts and artist talks, as well as an opportunity to discover the emerging talent featured in Art on a Postcard.
In a change to the usual auctions, artwork for this winter event will not remain anonymous. This will provide art lovers with an opportunity to discover in-depth the background and practices of the artists taking part.
There are 230 artists are participating this year, with highlights including renowned Paraguayan artist Faith Wilding, known for her feminist performances and installations in the 70s; and British Anj Smith whose intricately rendered paintings explore issues of identity, eroticism, mortality, and fragility.
Other artists include critically-acclaimed British artist Ryan Mosely; and Saint Lucian born artist Winston Branch, whose accolades include a Guggenheim fellowship and work held in the collections of many of the world’s top galleries including The Tate.
The Winter Auction will focus on raising funds for the Hepatitis C Trust helpline, which is staffed entirely by people who have had hepatitis C.
