Devon’s Creative Cabin is about to hit the road with a packed programme of events to help you get closer to nature.

This unusual travelling cabin is a project from Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) and Wild East Devon. Together they’ll be bringing art and cultural activities, with a nature theme, to communities across the county.

The aim of this quirky cabin is to help us creatively explore our relationship with nature and the climate emergency. Over the autumn months, you will be able to enjoy a variety of art activities, projects, talks, performances and workshops.

Creative Cabin’s autumn events

You can catch the cabin when it visits the THG garden on Saturday 19th September. Artists Megan Calver and Gabrielle Hoad will be leading a (be)wilder workshop exploring landscape, movement and language.

During October Half Term, the cabin will be offering collaborative photography workshops with photography specialists Paul Blakemore and Karen Dews. There’ll also be art and nature activities with Wild East Devon, and East Devon and Blackdown Hills AONBs to celebrate Naturally Healthy October. And watch out for the cabin as it heads to Sidmouth Science Festival and local Apple Days in the area.

The programme will also be reaching out to some of the hardest hit during the pandemic, including Devon Recovering Learning Community (DRLC). DRLC work with people with lived experience of mental health difficulties, and their family and friends. DRLC have partnered with THG to provide Art of the Senses, a five-part course exploring how the five senses can be a creative source of inspiration for making art.

The tour heads out across Devon
