Fancy turning that autumnal dog walk into charitable challenge? This September, the World Big Dog Walk is encouraging people around the globe to join together on their walkies.
The organisers of the Big Dog Walk series are hosting the 2020 Virtual Dog Walk – the World Big Dog Walk Challenge. The event hopes to raise thousands of pounds for dog-related charities, joining people (and dogs) together in a safe way.
The event is encouraging dog walkers from all over the world to join in with the challenge. So you can complete a walk, independently, from anywhere you like. The organisers are hoping to hit a total distance of 40,075km: the circumference of the Earth. So, why not use it as the perfect excuse to get out into the fresh air and clock up the miles?
How to get involved with the World Big Dog Walk
The good news is it’s free to get involved and all money raised will go directly to charities that support dogs in need. You can make a pledge to walk a certain distance, raise a target amount for one of the selected canine charities, or for a charity of your choice. The Big Dog Walk’s selected charities include Pets as Therapy, Mayhew Animal Home and Streetvet.
Once the miles start clocking up, Pip, the walk’s Virtual Dog, will start his journey around the world map. The map will be updated in real time on the Big Dog Walk website, depicting the miles walked by fundraisers. Pip’s aim is to lap the entire world (at least once).
Following the World Big Dog Walk, the organisers are hoping to resume the Big Dog Walk series with events at Hylands House, Loseley Park and Belvoir Castle in spring 2021.
In the meantime, why not get involved in your own virtual dog walk challenge? No dog? Walk this way!
