Fringe festival broadcast live from a shed

By Caroline King - August 6, 2020Posted in : Cabaret, Comedy, Festival, Theatre

Are you, like us, missing your annual fix of eclectic shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe? It doesn’t quite feel like summer without it, does it? Well, fear not, as an alternative is ready to beam itself into your home… live from a shed!

Shedinburgh Fringe Festival 2020
Shedinburgh Fringe Festival… it’s a bit different to Edinburgh

Yes, this month you can enjoy the quirky online festival Shedinburgh from the comfort of your sofa, and no need to suffer the dodgy beer in plastic glasses (hurrah!). The festival is the creation of multi-award winning duo, producer Francesca Moody (Fleabag/Baby Reindeer) and writer and performer Gary McNair (A Gamblers Guide To Dying/Square Go/Locker Room Talk).

Shedinburgh will take place between Friday 14th August and Saturday 5th September with daily live-streamed events, including ‘one night only’ unique shed-based versions of performances from established Fringe favourites. There will also be slots for new artists through Open Call Submissions and industry panel discussions.

The festival will feature shows from Helen Baer, Tim Crouch, Rosie Jones, Adam Kashmiry, Yolanda Mercy, Deborah Frances-White, Gary McNair, Sara Pascoe, Steen Raskopoulos, Jack Rooke, Joe Sellman-Leava, Mark Thomas and more.

All shows will be broadcast live from sheds, one in Edinburgh at the Traverse Theatre, one in London at Soho Theatre, and even some of the performers own sheds.

Performances will be broadcast once only at 7.30pm via zoom each night. Tickets will be purchased through Crowdfunder on a Pay What You Can system for a minimum donation of £4.

Proceeds will go to supporting new artists bringing their work to the 2021 Edinburgh Fringe, hopefully sustaining and reinvigorating the Fringe’s future beyond this year.

Are you ready for some much needed laughter in your life?

When: 14th August – 5th September 2020
Where: Online via Zoom
£: Tickets are Pay What You Can with a minimum donation of £4. Tickets will go on sale on 7th August
