Festive teams compete in pudding race

By Caroline King - December 5, 2019Posted in : Alternative Sport

This weekend, festive teams will be taking on a Christmas themed obstacle course in London.

Great Christmas Pudding Race 2014
Teams compete in The Great Christmas Pudding Race

The 39th Great Christmas Pudding Race will take place on Saturday 7th December, in Covent Garden, with teams racing around a course of festive challenges.

The event sees costumed teams of six trying to complete the Christmas themed obstacle course; all whilst balancing a Christmas pudding on a tray. The course usually includes a flying foam slalom, and special challenges to complete along the way, such as pulling a cracker, completing a jigsaw, decorating a tree, finding a sixpence and collecting a letter from Santa.

This year’s event will begin at 11am, with a fancy dress parade of the teams and a zumba race warm up courtesy of Pineapple Studios, before the race heats take place. There will be performances from The Roxys between the heats to keep everyone in the festive mood.

The event is organised by CRAC on behalf of Cancer Research UK and supported by Matthew Walker and Covent Garden Market.

When: 7th December 2019, 11am – 1pm
Where: West Piazza, Covent Garden, London WC2E 8RF
£: Free to watch. To enter costs £75 per team plus sponsorship
