The Samhuinn Fire Festival brings in the winter time with performers, drumming and plenty of fire. Samhainn is a traditional Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. The festivities in Edinburgh are a modern take on the tradition, with an immersive event that allows visitors to wander between otherworldly creatures who will be battling it out all over the hill.

The ‘battle’ between the seasons sees a spectacular struggle, brought to life by wild drumming, fire-dancing, acrobatics, and vibrant costumes. On the evening, performers will enter from both sides of the hill, allowing spectators to follow either the winter or summer forces as they move around the space.

The event is expected to go on until about 12pm and is hosted by the Beltane Fire Society.

When: 31st October 2019, from 7pm
Where: Calton Hill, Edinburgh
£: Tickets cost £8 – £10 for adults and £4 – £5 for children. Concessions available
