This weekend, join Age Against the Machine in London for a free outdoor trail with a difference.
Expect a carnival procession of bicycles, mobility scooters and a walking bus taking in all four events. One of the performance highlights will be Upswing’s Catch Me. Playfully poking at our expectations of relationships between ages and genders using dance, circus and sound, Upswing’s new outdoor show will be part of four shows in Deptford’s Pepys Park.
Upswing’s characteristic warmth and lightness of touch in gently introducing provocative issues to people of all ages, Catch Me plays with the first assumptions that people make when they see a couple who are of different generations, race and genders. The outdoor show will be set in a teetering installation of 30 intricately balanced chairs, which will remain in situ between performances.
Age Against the Machine is a festival of creative ageing with events taking place in community centres, theatres, care homes, museums, parks, libraries and public spaces across the borough. The three-week festival explores creativity and ageing through a series of talks, workshops, exhibitions, theatre and live music performances.
