Pick hops, drink local ales, and meet Pearly Kings and Queens, and Basil Brush at a Kent festival this weekend.

Hops, beer and music in Kent

The Kent Life rural heritage attraction, near Maidstone in Kent, will be hosting their annual Hops ‘n’ Harvest Beer Festival, honouring old traditions by giving visitors the chance to have a go at picking hops by hand. Visitors can also see the last working coal-fired oast house in Britain, in full production for the festival weekend.

The event offers a unique chance to take in the sights and sounds of bygone years, along with live music, children’s shows and 50 locally brewed ales. And if you’re not a beer drinker, this year’s event has a gin bar too.

There will be two live music stages at this year’s festival, with acts including the The Lowly Strung, Contraband, The Skalites, Skinners Rats, and Aid Lewis.

Other entertainment over the weekend will include Basil Brush in the family Big Top, a chance to meet and feed the animals, tractor rides, games and races, a silent disco and pot painting.

When: 7th & 8th September 2019
Where: Kent Life, Lock Lane, Sandling, Maidstone, Kent ME14 3AU
£: Tickets cost from £8.95 for adults, from £7.40 for children and from £29.65 for a family. Kent Life members and children under 3 years go free. Concessions available.
