Head to Dorset this weekend for a quirky celebration of hats, featuring a mass hat-wearing photoshoot, hatted dogs and best hat competitions.

The Bridport Hat Festival will take place on Saturday with entertainment taking place across Bucky Doo Square, Borough Gardens, The Bull Hotel ballroom, Millennium Green and the surrounding streets.

Events will begin at 10am with the town crier and mayor’s welcome, before the best hatted competitions take place. This year’s competition categories will include best Lady, Gent, Girl, Boy, Couple, and Family/Group.

Hat-themed entertainment during the day will also include a hat hurling challenge, a best hatted dog competition, a mass hatted photo opportunity, an elegant ensemble (of people wearing hats, of course), talks, and stalls.

Other entertainment includes live music, craft stalls, a vintage tea party, body painting, dance demonstrations, and storytelling.
