The Art Car Boot Fair returns to Margate at the end of September, bringing its famed festival atmosphere to the coastal art hub.
One of the best loved art events in the UK, the public get to meet and haggle with a stellar line-up of artists who produce works especially for the event and sell at one-off prices.
This quirky one-day fair will take place on Saturday 28th September, coinciding with the opening of the Turner Prize at the Turner Contemporary, a new exhibition at Carl Freedman’s recently opened gallery and the Margate Now festival. Weekend visitors to Margate who are heading to these local shows will also have the chance to buy original artworks direct from leading artists at lower than usual prices.
The theme of the Margate fair is Love: love for the planet, love for each other and love of art.
Art Car Boot Fair has made a name for itself as the place to bid, buy and haggle with some of the most coveted artists in the world. Many pieces are available for £50 and under, with some created and personalised by the artists on the spot. The September fair will be a great opportunity for visitors to buy these unique works at one-off, bargain prices.
There will also be portrait opportunities, mystery prizes, raffles, pass the art parcel, the art of dating, and the Secret Art Casino; plus a host of performances, tasty food and delicious drinks.
This year’s line-up will include Juno Calypso, Geraldine Swayne, Vic Reeves, Charming Baker, Ian Dawson’s Copy Shop, Rennaissance Selfies, Hi-Noon Editions, Keira Rathbone Typewriter Artist, The Misfortune Teller, Wilma Johnson, Schoony, BOW WOW WOW, Tinsel Edwards & Twinkle Troughton, Atom Gallery, Cedric Christie & Pascal Rousson, Lady Muck, The Wind in the Trees, Art on a Postcard with It’s a Living and James Springall, Euan Roberts, Bumble & Earwig, Joseph Gibson, and the Smithson Gallery with Frea Buckler.
