The annual Lytham 1940s Wartime Weekend will be taking place this weekend bringing music, dance and a touch of nostalgia to the Lancashire seaside town.
This year’s entertainment will include re-enactments, 1940s singers and dance acts performing, vintage stalls, vehicle parades, a traditional funfair and children’s games.
There will be a marquee on Lytham Green with free entertainment including Colin Bourdiec as George Formby, Lancashire Belle, The Bluebird Belles, the chance to learn to dance with Anthony and Steph, and a Re Invintaged Fashion Show.
Fashion will be a huge part of the weekend and it’s not just the people who get dressed up! Local shops and cafes all get into the 1940s swing of it with bunting, sandbags and the like.
Historic military vehicles and post war vehicles will be on display on Lytham Green, opposite the Clifton Hotel. A vehicle procession, led by Winston Churchill, will take place at 1.30pm each day with jeeps, trucks, vintage bicycles and more. There will also be battle re enactments on the Green, courtesy of the NWWW2A, with explosions and weapons firing.
