There’s something fishy going on in Clovelly

By Caroline King - August 31, 2019Posted in : Food & Drink, Music

Every year, the north Devon village of Clovelly celebrates its famous lobsters and crabs, sustainably caught by its fishermen, with a day of family friendly fun and entertainment.

Lobster & Crab Feast - Clovelly
Clovelly’s unique lobster celebration

At this year’s Lobster and Crab Feast, visitors will be able to choose from a variety of crab and lobster dishes cooked on the quay and watch cookery demonstrations, as well as sample beer and browse craft stalls.

There’ll also be live folk music, street theatre, walkabout magic, balloon modelling and family friendly craft activities.

The event is held in aid of the National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow, who will exhibit baby lobsters before releasing them into the sea at the beginning and end of the day. They are best known for their lobster stock enhancement programme, from eggs through the most vulnerable stage of their life cycle, before being released back into the sea. 53,000 juveniles are released back into the wild in one year and they plan to increase the numbers over the next few years. Visitors will even be able to adopt a Lobster for just £4.

When: 1st September 2019, 10am – 5pm
Where: Clovelly Harbour, Clovelly village, Devon
£: Admission to the village costs £7.75 for adults, £4.50 for children, £21 for a family, and children under 7 years go free
