Hythe Venetian Fete will take place on the historical Royal Military Canal on Wednesday 21st August with ceremonial barges, floating processions, thousands of lights and a firework display.

The event, organised by the Hythe Venetian Fete Society, will have more than 25 floats taking part, each one decorated with a humorous, historic or topical theme.

The event will begin with some family entertainment, including a Samba Band, before the fete is officially declared open by the Mayor of Hythe. At around 7pm, the daylight procession of floats will take place. After an interval, as dusk falls, the sky will be lit up with a firework display before the final parade takes place with illuminated floats.

This year’s event will also feature entertainment on the canal banks with a funfair and stalls. In the run up to the fete, four free band concerts will also take place on the canal’s South Bank Centre Stage, beginning on Saturday 17th August with Here Come the Girls.

When: 21st August 2019, gates open at 4pm
Where: Hythe, Kent
£: Tickets cost £5 – £17
