Music and dance fills Broadstairs

The 54th Broadstairs Folk Week rolls into town this month, with hundreds of musicians and performers in almost every available venue in the Kent town.

Folk traditions from across the British Isles, Ireland and further afield will be celebrated at the event with performances from Jon Boden & the Remnant Kings, Kabantu, Amythyst Kiah, Strannik, Zulu Tradition, Ushti Baba, Aardvark Ceilidh Band, The Trouser Trumpets, and The Lunatraktors.

Morris sides will make a great contribution to the colour and music during the week, and this year there will be many sides appearing at shows as well as busking around the town. In addition to the Morris dancing there will also be dance workshops covering Medieval, Russian, Samba, Appalachian clog and Zulu traditional.

As well as the live music and dance performances, there will be a craft and music fair, music and dance workshops and a family-friendly procession of music, Morris and magic, complete with a ‘folk giant’ made especially for the event.

When: 9th – 16th August 2019
Where: Broadstairs, Kent
£: Ticket prices vary, both festival tickets and tickets for individual events are available. There are also many free events
