Skipton means ‘sheep town’, so it’s not surprising that the North Yorkshire town holds an annual event celebrating sheep.
Skipton Sheep Day fills the High Street with entertainment, stalls, and demonstrations. This year’s entertainment will include the Sheep Show, a farmyard animals petting zoo, food and drink stalls, demonstrations of traditional skills, dancing, street theatre, storytelling workshops, cookery demonstrations, vintage tractors, and a craft market.
New for 2019, there will also be a mini music festival with family friendly live music at the bottom of the High Street. There will also be a pop-up barn dance taking place.
One of the day’s highlights is The Sheep Show, an educational and fun show with real sheep and shearing demonstrations. The show also features different breeds of sheep and a spot of sheep dancing!
Live demonstrations will include dry stone walling, rope making, spinning, and weaving. And as usual, there will be stalls lining the street, selling lots of local food, drink, and crafts.
