Retro Rendezvous, Ulverston’s festival of vintage, will feature retro music, dancing, vehicles, markets and an old school cycling event.
Highlights at this year’s event will include a cycle ride back in time with the Velo Retro, a vintage tea room serving retro cakes and biscuits, and a Dirty Dancing cocktail and movie evening.
Other entertainment over the weekend will include a fashion show, a knobbly knees contest, classic cars and motorcycles on the streets, a retro DJ and live music covering the 1930s to the 1980s, and an evening with British rider Brian Robinson.
Velo Retro will see competitors riding out in vintage attire on classic cycles on the Sunday. There will be three rides taking place as part of this year’s festival.
For the experienced cyclist there is the 84km A L’ancienne Classic, taking in hills, lakes, views and castles. Slightly easier is the 47km Le Loafeur which tours Coniston with plenty of views and slightly less hills. New for this year is the more civilised Saunter, which is suitable for reasonably fit people of all ages, with a passion for vintage attire and a suitably retro bike to hand of course.
As well as the cycling events, there will be cycle stalls selling vintage bikes and clothing, and themed talks.
There will be a mix of stalls at this year’s event including clothing from Buttontin Retro, Neville’s Nice Lollies, gifts made from vintage junk by 1994, Scintilla Art Jewellery, and homewares and accessories from Candyfloss. There will also be a vintage fair in the Coronation Hall, hosted by Good Evans it’s vintage.
