This weekend, watch muck shifting demonstrations, vintage vehicles, kite flying displays and racing camels as the Cumbria Steam Gathering takes place.
For more than four decades, the Cumbria Steam & Vintage Vehicle Society has been bringing together vintage vehicles from far and wide to the airfield in Flookburgh, for one massive summer gathering.
Quirky highlights at this year’s gathering will include Joseph’s Amazing Racing Camels, Smile Factor 10 Kite Display, and miniature car racing.
The Pantonic All Stars Orchestra will return again to this year’s gathering, with their steel band, and there will be a Vintage Village Hall Tearoom providing tea and cake.
There will be demonstrations of agricultural machinery including some muck shifting demonstrations, as well as cultivation, haymaking and wood sawing activities.
The 2019 Cumbria Steam Gathering will be representing the whole spectrum of classic and vintage vehicles that have been lovingly and painstakingly brought back into use, many from near scrap condition. There will be exhibits of steam traction engines, wagons, tractors, vintage cars, motorcycles, fire appliances, military vehicles and pedal cycles.
There will be a food hall as well as an array of crafts and trade stands, live music, traditional organs and an old time fun fair. And for those who are involved in a restoration project of their own, Autojumble stalls will have plenty of spare parts.
