Ulverston will come alive with everything from window painting and yarnbombing, to live street art and wandering theatre performances, as their free creative community festival returns.
Another Fine Fest is back for the sixth year, with an eclectic mix of music, comedy, art, street theatre and a unique parade. Over the weekend, the beer gardens, streets, windows, walls, cobbles, and even lamp posts become awash with weird and wonderful activity.
The event was created to celebrate the birth of Stan Laurel and to celebrate the comedy hero’s hometown of Ulverston.
This year’s festival will feature live street art from artists including Peachzz, the Cunning Craftsman, and T-ONE; along with a team of local artists who will be painting the windows of the shops and cafes, using the glass as their canvas.
Live music and cabaret performances will take place across two outdoor stages, the Melodrome stage and Mr Alexanders Travelling Stage, as well as the locals bars and pubs, including Beer Wolf, the Rose & Crown, and The Mill. Over the weekend, visitors will be able to watch everything from a interactive clowning musical, and the World’s Strangest Strongman, to Balkan Klezmer music and local folk bands.
The Laurel and Hardy Museum will host Edinburgh comedy previews, whilst wandering around the streets will be acts including the Lakes Wedding Magicians and Gacko, the Royal Troubadour of Piel Island. There will also be a host of workshops including yarn bombing and rapping.
Step inside the Imaginarium and catch a random performance or try your hand at writing a limerick at the Market Hall. And finally, don’t miss the ‘Another Fine Fairground’ parade, which will see the premiere of the Human Bowlercoaster.
