A re-staging of the Seven Deadly Sins in London’s rescued music hall

By Caroline King - May 6, 2019Posted in : Dance, Theatre

Internationally acclaimed ballet dancer Viviana Durante, will present the world premiere of the Seven Deadly Sins at Wilton’s Music Hall this May.

The production is a re-staging of Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s version of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s Seven Deadly Sins, and stars provocative performer Meow Meow, whose voice has earned her international acclaim.

Royal Ballet principal Laura Morera and Meow Meow will play the two conflicting sides of Anna, an only daughter who is sent out by her family to make their fortune. Meow Meow portrays the singing Anna, the pragmatic bourgeois, while Morera will take on the role of the dancing Anna, an artistic beauty with an open heart.

Anna and her two very different personalities must navigate each city, encountering a deadly sin in each one. The tale follows the internal struggle she faces with each sin, envying those who surrender to them, but forced to resist so she can complete her mission.

Alongside Meow Meow and Morera, this production will be brought to life by a cast of 20 singers, dancers and guest Royal Ballet principals, in the visually stunning and intimate surroundings of the oldest working music hall in the world, Wilton’s.

The Viviana Durante Company was founded to bring ground-breaking, classical ballet to a diverse audience.

When: 8th – 18th May 2019
