This Bank Holiday weekend, Belfast City Centre will come alive with acrobatics, circus acts, clowning and astounding tomfoolery.
The Festival of Fools is perfect for people who fail to plan ahead, as visitors can simply stroll around and sample the delights of comedic talents from around the world.
This year’s festival performance spaces can be found at St Anne’s Square, Writer’s Square, Cotton Court, Castle Place and Corn Market. There is no need to book for shows, just pop along to the one of the performance spaces and catch a random show.
The opening show will be The Red Trouser Show, featuring acrobatics, comedy and fire in Writer’s Square on Friday evening. Other highlights over the long weekend will include the high-energy Bubble Street Cirkus, accomplished cyr wheel artist Mr Dyvinetz, bike acrobatics from Cia Alto Gama’s Adoro, and crazy clowning from Nakupelle‘s ‘lightening bolt’ Bardo.
Don’t forget to look out for the free range fools as they wander around the nearby streets. Acts including the Synch ‘Ro’ Swim Team, Tennis Dennis, Tilda Tigerbalm, Granny Myrtle and the Headless Biker will be roaming around.
