Take a trip to the past this weekend as York’s Festival of Vintage takes place, celebrating all things vintage from the 1930s to the 1960s.
This year’s festival will feature live music, dance lessons and competitions, fashion parades, classic vehicles, a vintage beauty parlour and a pop up barber shop. Visitors will also be able to browse stalls, attend demos and dress up in vintage attire.
There will be DJs playing music from the 1930s to the 1960s, with plenty of room for visitors to dance along to their favourite songs. Those who would like to brush up on their dance skills can head to the dedicated Vintage Dance Hall and try lessons in Swing, Jive and Lindy Hop. If you already fancy yourself as a bit of a mover, then why not enter the festival’s dance competition?
In the Vintage Arcade, music will come from the likes of Miss Marina Mae, Leeds City Stompers, Johnny Victory, and Ashby Tea Dance Band. In the Nostalgia Hall, The Firebirds, Velocity Brown & The Hot Rods, Davie T and The Razzberries, and Bamboozle will perform.
Other entertainment will include sessions with vintage salon styling experts, a 1930s and 40s fashion showcase, art deco taster talks, and more than 200 exhibitor stalls to browse. There will also be an array of vintage vehicles on display over the weekend, including scooters, cars, buses and caravans.
So why not get dressed up in vintage style and head along for a retro themed weekend?
