Don your tweed and head to Scotland for The Mighty Deerstalker

By Caroline King - March 1, 2019Posted in : Alternative Sport

The Mighty Deerstalker, Scotland’s original obstacle race, is an adventure run with a difference. This after dark event challenges the best dressed competitors over 5km and 10km courses, which start and finish at the picturesque Traquair House.

Mighty Deerstalker 2019 - Rat Race
Dapper racing at The Mighty Deerstalker

The race is notorious, not just for its challenging terrain with natural and man-made obstacles, but also for those who turn up looking fine and dandy with their tweed, moustaches and pipes. Competitors are encouraged to raid wardrobes and charity shops for waistcoats, deerstalker caps and kilts to run in. The race also requires good footwear and a strong headtorch!

After the race has finished, the fun really kicks off in the beer tent, with food, real ale and music. Competitors who want to make an evening of it can buy camping and party passes. There’s a free pint and a bacon roll for breakfast!

Traquair House dates back to 1107 and was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland. It is Scotland’s oldest inhabited house.

When: 16th March 2019
Where: Traquair House, Innerleithen, Scotland
£: It costs from £60 to enter. Guest party tickets cost £5
