What is it?

Fancy trying something a bit different this winter?  Pick up a new skill for Christmas with a Wood Engraving taster day at the St Bride Foundation in London.

During the day, you will be introduced to the process of wood engraving, from the preliminary drawings and design, to transferring drawings to blocks, cutting blocks and choosing papers, before printing a small batch of black and white prints.

The taster day will also include health and safety in workshop, the care and use of wood engraving tools and the use of the St Bride Foundation’s historic presses.

Housed in a Grade II listed Victorian building, the foundation was established in 1891 to serve Fleet Street.  Today it is one of London’s hidden gems, running regular events and workshops.
