What is it?
Head to The Royal Society in London on Thursday 6th December for a festive evening with a Victorian Christmas theme.
Join in with their celebration of the history of the Royal Society, the scientific artefacts and the stories from their archives; featuring special performances, talks, festive activities and a chance to explore the building by candlelight.
This year’s event is inspired by the science of the nineteenth century, scientific discoveries made in the Victorian era, and the romance associated with this holiday for the Victorians.
Guests will be able to watch a science-themed dance performance, and hear talks on the science in Victorian fairy tales, astronomy in the 19th century, and Michael Faraday’s Christmas candle lecture. Visitors can also take part in festive activities, including printmaking greeting cards and mince pie molecular gastronomy.
Finally, there will be a unique opportunity to explore The Royal Society’s home at Carlton House Terrace, in all its festive glory, by candlelight.
