Giant puppets and illuminated installations at the Lamplighter Festival

Lamplighter Festival - Todmorden - Handmade Parade When: 17th November 2018

What is it?

On Saturday 17th November, Todmorden will light up with a handmade lantern parade, fire performers, street bands and illuminated installations.

This is the sixth Lamplighter Festival, back by popular demand, organised by the Handmade Parade.  The special night-time event showcases the unique creativity of Todmorden.  The Lamplighter Festival features widely renowned street performers and installation artists from the Upper Calderdale Valley.

The illuminated street festival takes place from 5.30pm, with the lantern parade beginning at 6.15pm. The lantern parade will feature giant lantern puppets, dancing and hundreds of lanterns made by local people, young and old.

Lamplighter Festival - Todmorden - Lantern Parade Visitors can expect illuminated installations, projections, walkabout performances, street bands and food during the evening. Many of the lanterns are made in the run up to the parade at local workshops, making it a great community event.

Handmade Parade also host an annual summer parade and mini-festival.  Handmade Parade are made up of a team of professional carnival artists, puppeteers, makers, musicians, stilt walkers and performers based around Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd in West Yorkshire.
