What is it?
Head to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh this Christmas, for an evening trail through illuminated trees.
There is a new family friendly trail for 2018 around a one mile loop, promising twinkling lights in the trees, larger-than-life incandescent flowers, illuminated tree sculptures and hidden surprises. Expect shards of light, frosty snowflakes, stars and baubles, marching reindeer, gingerbread men, and even Santa and his elves.
Christmas at the Botanics runs from 4.40pm to 8pm, until Saturday 29th December. The event will feature a cathedral of light with more than 100,000 pea-lights, ribbons of colour-changing globes in the Scented Fire Garden, and brightly coloured projections that dance in time to much-loved Christmas classics.
During the evenings there will be spiced cider, mulled wine and hot chocolate available, as well as roasted chestnuts and a chance to toast marshmallows at one of the fire pits.
