The 2018 Lakes International Comic Art Festival will take place in the historic market town of Kendal in Cumbria, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th October.
This year’s festival will feature an eclectic mix of late night sessions, talks, signings, family activities, film screenings, workshops and immersive events.
The festival will begin on the Friday with a day of talks and discussions exploring comic art in all its guises, a live draw and debate on DC vs Marvel, and an out of hours DJ session promising nerd video remixes and geek beats.
The comic themed entertainment will continue on the Saturday with a chance to create your own mythical pet, a discussion on crime with comics writer John Wagner and author Ian Rankin, a presentation by writer Sean Michael Wilson, and a special signing with The Walking Dead‘s Charlie Adlard at The Factory Tap.
There will be live drawing at the festival
There will also be signing sessions, live drawing, hands-on workshops, interviews, and family activities in the shopping centre.
Saturday will round-off with an interactive steampunk story told through graphic novels, film and role-play, at The New Union pub. The night will feature a live band and some specially-brewed IPA (what’s not to like?).
Sunday will feature a debate on the best comic book movie ever, live drawing with Mikiko and Ken Niimura, a screening of Katsuhiro Otomo’s Steam Boy and a Big Zombie Comic Draw.
