What is it?
Vintage by the Sea will take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September in Morecambe.
Vintage by the Sea is returning to Morecambe for the sixth season, to celebrate the brilliance of 20th century design, fashion, vehicles and entertainment, with a special focus on the British seaside.
The festival programme will aim to bring vibrancy and creativity to Morecambe’s Promenade, and support regeneration in the seaside resort.
The event will feature a vintage fairground, workshops, live music, vintage markets, a mobile cinema, immersive theatre, seaside games and vintage bus rides.
Over the weekend, visitors will be able to enjoy live music and DJs, a classic car show, an array of street food, a vintage design, craft and makers’ market, vintage workshops, and a vintage marketplace with clothes, jewellery and homewares.
DJs will be taking to the turntables at The Midland’s Rotunda Bar and at the Routemaster Bus Bar. Sol Cinema’s sun-powered film screenings will also return to the festival this year.
This year’s workshops will include pom poms, leatherwork, embroidery, badge making and screen printing.
There will be the opportunity to take a ride on a heritage bus, courtesy of Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust, and the chance to get a makeover at the vintage salon. On the Sunday, the Bradford to Morecambe Car Rally will roll into town, and both days will see a Lancaster Bomber flypast.
There will also be a best in show contest, acoustic music sets, a chance to charleston, afternoon tea by the sea, an immersive installation, donkey rides, an airstream bar, and theatre and pop up dance performances.
