What is it?
Salcombe Town Regatta will take place from Saturday 11th to Saturday 18th August in Devon, with sailing events and daft competitions.
This year’s quirky highlights will include an ice cream eating competition, a greasy pole, crab catching, a sandcastle competition, a mud race, a fancy dress boat parade and a ‘bang and go back’ race.
The regatta will kick off on Saturday 11th August with boating events and a pub quiz trail. The weekend entertainment will continue on Sunday with a beer festival, street party, water treasure hunt, crab catching, greasy pole, a fun run, slime making, live music and a magic show.
On the Monday there will be a harbour swim, a mud race, a fancy dress parade, crab catching, the greasy pole and a hula hoop demo; as well as yoga on the beach, a land treasure hunt and art stalls.
Tuesday will see a face painting competition, a boat show, live music, sailing, rowing and a sandcastle competition taking place.
The entertainment will continue during the week with a family fun day, art competition, a cycle sportive, raft races, an ice cream eating competition, Morris dancing, a flotilla of light and a firework display.
The final two days of the regatta will feature sailing, stalls, juggling, a swimming gala, beach rugby, a water carnival, and a family sports day.
