What is it?
The World Paper Aeroplane Championship will take place on Sunday 26th August in Somerset.
The family friendly contest will take place on the High Street in Burnham-on-Sea from 10am. This will be the fourth time the championship has taken place and this year there will be prizes for the longest flight and for landing on the lucky square. This year’s champion will be crowned at 3pm.
If you would like to have a go at becoming the World Paper Aeroplane Champion, then here are the all important rules:
1. Paper planes must be constructed from the official A4 paper provided.
2. You may use any paper aeroplane form of your choosing, but there will be ten designs available should you need a helping hand with the design.
3. Paper planes may be created by folding only. No ripping of paper, using staples, etc allowed.
4. Aircraft must be launched by one person only, standing behind the official line.
5. Competitors may add their own plane noises for effect.
6. The longest distance will be measured with a standard tape measure, from the start line to where the plane lands.
Participants can enter the championship as many times as they like, so there’ll be plenty of opportunity to try for that longest flight!
