What is it?
International ceramic artists and innovative new talent will take centre stage at Hertfordshire’s Art in Clay event, from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th August.
The ceramic arts festival will see internationally renowned ceramicists display their work alongside innovative new talent. Art in Clay will bring together more than 200 ceramic artists at Hatfield House, showcasing the finest ceramics currently being created by individual makers in the UK and Europe.
The event will feature artwork displayed by leading names such as Jim Malone, Eddie Curtis, Nicola Theakston, Jin Eui Kim, Brendan Hesmondhalgh, James Oughtibridge, Peter Beard and Tony Laverick. There will also be pieces by newcomers including Rhiannon Evans, Alice McIlroy, Tom Peterson and Joshua Schoeman.

In addition to the 200 exhibitors showcasing their art, a full daily programme will include ceramic talks and demonstrations, and a Clay Creation Zone to fire both children and adults’ imagination; with options to throw a pot on a potter’s wheel, have a go at Raku or make a creation by hand with guidance from an experienced potter. Visitors will also be able to have a go at the clay challenge.
Art in Clay has been running for 24 years and is an important part of the studio potter craft market, making their work accessible to the general consumer.
There will be a second event, Art in Clay Farnham later in the year, on 17th and 18th November. A smaller show at Farnham Maltings in Surrey, it will feature more than 75 exhibitors.
