What is it?
Retro Rendezvous, Ulverston’s festival of vintage, will take place from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th July in Cumbria, with music, food, drink, dance, cinema, clothes, vehicles and old school cycling events.
Highlights at this year’s event will include vintage cycling with Velo Retro, a vintage tea room with retro cakes and biscuits, a 50s ukulele sing along and workshop on a classic double-decker bus, and a costumed vintage promenade.
The Retro Rendezvous will kick off on the Friday evening at Ford Park with stories from travel and cycle author Andrew Sykes.
The entertainment will continue over the weekend with a vintage market selling gifts, clothes, cakes, homewares and jewellery. There will also be gin, vintage cycles, vintage make-up and styling, fine arts and ceramics, and a stall celebrating the history of the NHS.
A retro tea room will be setting up on Brogden Street with a selection of traditional style cakes and biscuits for sale. There will also be classic vehicles, roving street musicians, traditional dance performances and two outdoor music stages. This year there will also be the chance to have your photo taken with a replica Herbie.
Saturday will feature live music, a fashion show, Uncle Tim’s Parisian Flea Circus, and film screenings.
On the Sunday, the Retro Velo will see competitors riding out in vintage attire on classic cycles during the morning. The rest of the day will be filled with live music, DJs, a promenade, and a film screening.
