What is it?

The North’s quirky outdoor cinema, Picnic Cinema, will be joining forces with the award-winning Crafty Vintage, to stage a weekend of entertainment in the grounds of Lowther Castle.

On 4th and 5th August, the two outdoor event companies will be hosting a weekend of entertainment with the opportunity to camp in the grounds of Lowther Castle.

Starting on the Saturday, Crafty Vintage will bring their eclectic mix of creators, makers, collectors, hunters, gatherers and vintage folk.  Expect creative crafts, art, retro wares, vinyl, knits and woodwork.  Entry to the fair is free, and it will be open from 11am to 7pm on the Saturday and 10am to 5pm on the Sunday.

In Crafty Vintage style, alongside the crafts there will also be live music and DJs throughout the day, pop up magic shows, plus crafty corner and face painting for the youngsters.  Once the sun begins to set, the evening’s entertainment will get underway.

The Picnic Cinema will be screening Sightseers (15) on the Saturday, with an evening of quirky themed entertainment, including a Tupperware party and some dressing up.  There’ll be plenty of food and drink to keep everyone going and guests are invited to stay the night and camp.

Far more than just outdoor cinema, Picnic Cinema have been taking picnickers and movie lovers to iconic locations including castles, forests and national trust properties over the years.

Picnic Cinema is organised by Eden Arts, the award-winning team behind Penrith’s Winter Droving, C-Art Festival and proceeds go towards funding their activities including Cine North, a rural touring cinema project that enables rural communities to put on cinema screenings in village venues.
