What is it?

Charlestown Regatta Week will take place from Saturday 21st to Friday 27th July in Cornwall, with a whole host of nautical and quirky events.

The regatta aims to bring a week of fun and entertainment to the area, for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Money raised from the event goes towards community projects, including the children’s playing field and the Christmas lights.

This year, the events kick off on Saturday 22nd July with a triathlon, a raft race, a children’s treasure hunt and other activities, water polo, a knobbly knees contest, sailing races, a procession and the crowning of the Regatta Queen.

This will be followed by Sea Sunday, featuring a nautical themed afternoon with St Austell Coastguard, St Austell RNLI, and the National Coastwatch Fowey Lifeboat.  There will also be a BBQ, craft stalls, Charlestown Regatta Challenge Gig Race, shanty singing, a pasty making workshop and contest, and live music.

Musical Monday will feature an evening of live music from The Roustabouts Collective, and Tuesday will see a day of children’s sports, including the Annual Egg Extravaganza.

The Grand Carnival will take place on the Thursday, with a procession featuring local bands and the flora dance. The day will end with a proms in the park and a fireworks display. The Regatta Week finale on the Friday will have an evening of open air live music with the Regatta Rocks event (this event is ticketed).
