What is it?
Clovelly Seaweed Festival will take place on Sunday 27th May in the harbour. The festival aims to promote seaweed for its health and nutritional benefits, and is held in aid of the N.D. Hospice.
Seaweed is hugely versatile and the quay kitchens will be offering a surprising variety of dishes on the day, and stalls will also be selling a range of seaweed products.
There will also be plenty of entertainment for both adults and children to enjoy, such as Know your Seaweed talks, craft activities and workshops, street entertainment and live music throughout the day. The Seaweed Health Foundation will provide information on the benefits of seaweed for food and health, and forager Adam Reeve will be doing a seaweed gel demonstration and talk.
Also this year, Drabani will be at the festival; a collaboration of rock star Moldovan-Russian chef Denis Calmis and Aussie nutritionist Susie Meggitt, who bring a global pop up superfood dining experience to cities around the world.
Visitors can bring along their own seaweed and ask the experts what the best use is for it.
Clovelly is a unique village, which offers a step back in time with its car-free cobbled streets.
