When: 6th – 8th April 2018

Where: Morpeth, Northumberland

£: Ticket prices vary depending on the event, some events are free

What is it?

The people of Morpeth will be welcoming visitors to the town as they showcase Northumberland’s traditions in an annual festival of music, dance, craft and dialect.

This year’s Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering will take place from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th April, with a Back to the Roots theme to highlight the area’s traditional folk arts.

This will be the 51st Northumbrian Gathering, which will kick off on the Friday with art and craft exhibitions, dance workshops, poetry, live music and storytelling. There will also be outdoor entertainment including Punch & Judy and RentaPeasant, as well as a chance for adults to learn to play the pipes in a day.

On the Saturday there will be more entertainment including clog dancing and seed sowing workshops, living history events, fire eating and children’s storytelling.  There will also be competitions in clog dancing, speaking and dialect, singing and pipe playing.

The gathering will round off on the Sunday with orienteering, crafts, Maypole dancing, a hand bell workshop and a presentation on medieval leatherwork.
