What is it?
On Sunday 6th May, Public in Woolwich will be turned into a craft beer arena, where breweries from all over the world will go head-to-head in the ultimate battle of the beer.
Craft Beer Battle 2 will give guests the chance to sample ales and vote for their favourite, whilst enjoying street food, pool and live music.
The battle rules are simple. Participants will sample ten lagers and ten ales – from a selection of 40 that will be available on the day – before voting for the best lager and best ale.
The tastings are blind, as participants won’t know what they’re drinking (and neither will the bartenders). At 5pm, once all the votes have been counted, it will be revealed which beers are which. Jane Peyton, award-winning beer expert, will then crown the craft brew kings.
Participants needn’t worry about soaking up the alcohol, as there will be plenty of street food on offer for some serious Sunday feasting. There will be wood-fired pizza at Rust Bucket, rotisserie chicken with rosemary salted fries at HENhaus, salt beef short rib with honey mustard glaze at Salt Shed and 90 day-aged patties at Burger & Beyond.
There will be a rotating selection of 40 craft brews available throughout the day. There will be Kolsch, Pilsner, Hells and Vienna lagers and India, American and Session ales to choose from.
Each ticket will include a plus one entry (if you don’t mind sharing your tasters and vote of course).
