What is it?
Podcasting duo Emma Gannon (Ctrl Alt Delete) and Lliana Bird (Radio X) will be joined by two special guests for the first ever live recording of their hit podcast, Get It Off Your Breasts, at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen.
Join journalist Emma Gannon and radio host Lliana Bird, on Thursday 8th March, for a female-led round table discussion with a difference. It promises to be an unfiltered platform to discuss the current and more general issues getting under our skin.
Trans awareness campaigner and journalist Paris Lees (recently profiled in Vogue as part of ‘The New Suffragettes’), and author and body positive activist Megan Jayne Crabbe aka @bodyposipanda, will both be invited to get something off their breasts/chests at this special International Women’s Day event.
In the final half an hour of the show they’ll be asking the audience to write down anything they want to ‘Get Off Your Breasts’, as part of the discussion. Past topics have been wide-ranging, from sleep-shaming, genderisation of kids clothing, and homelessness, to cheating partners, feminism, and pubic hair.
For the event there will be 2-4-1 cocktails from 5pm to 7pm, with a Get it off your Breasts special cocktail on the menu. Audience members can get as involved as they like, or simply listen and enjoy the cocktails.
Get It Off Your Breasts is produced by Shola Aleje, and since it’s launch in September 2017 has created an online buzz amongst bloggers, been recommended by The Guardian, had a huge banner on the iTunes homepage for a month and more than 70 five-star reviews on iTunes. Past guests have included Dawn O’Porter, Munroe Bergdorf, Shappi Khorsandi, Gizzi Erskie and Sara Pascoe.
