What is it?
Gloucester’s annual Cajun & Zydeco Festival will be back this weekend for the 25th year. This unusual little festival aims to bring the spirit of Louisiana to the South West.
Taking place at the Guildhall, this year’s festival will include international acts in the form of Jeffery Broussard from the USA headlining the Saturday night, and The River Zydeco Band from the Netherlands headlining the Friday night.
Jeffery Broussard, of the legendary band Zydeco Force, is known for his accordion mastery and soulful vocals. Broussard will be travelling all the way from the home of Zydeco – Opelousas in Louisiana – for the festival.
The festival opens on the Friday evening and continues through to the Sunday night with live music, dancing, Cajun and Zydeco dance workshops for beginners and experts, authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine, and the Swamp Rock DJ’s who will keep the atmosphere swinging between the live bands.
