What is it?
The American Museum in Britain will be hosting a party like no other this Christmas. A Little Party Never Hurt Nobody is a jazz age-inspired Christmas party through the ages; visitors can discover what Americans did to let their hair down in days gone by, as they wander through the museum’s period rooms.
The jewel in the crown is the dazzling Central Hall Christmas tree, bedecked in decadent decorations, glorious glitz, and Gatsbyesque glamour of the 1920’s.
In a 17th century home in Massachusetts, the family is giving thanks for the bounteous harvest provided by the New England autumn, and sharing an abundant feast together with their friends and neighbors.
In December 1800, a young lady has just returned home from the excitement of the first White House Christmas party, held in honor of President Adams granddaughter.
In New York 1835, the young ladies of the family have decided to give an impromptu concert to entertain their friends and family at a party on the eve of the New Year.
Amid the celebrations, fabulous flapper rag-dolls handcrafted by the Museum’s volunteers, will be daringly dancing through each room – can you spot them all?
