What is it?
Fancy playing a game with a difference this autumn and winter-time? London’s first table shuffleboard club, The Little Shuffle Club has launched in Shoreditch.
Shuffleboard originated on cruise ships at the beginning of the 20th century as a popular on-deck activity. The London Shuffle Club has given the sport a new lease of life, injecting some quirky fun and style into the sport. Table shuffleboard is already hugely popular in Scandinavia and is a game in which players push metal-and-plastic weighted pucks (also called weights or quoits) down a long and smooth wooden table into a scoring area at the opposite end of the table. Shooting is performed with the hand directly, as opposed to deck shuffleboard’s use of cue sticks (also called tangs).
Londoner’s can get their game on at the Little Shuffle Club with a side of craft beer or cocktails and delicious pizza whilst they follow in the footsteps of Henry VIII who was a fan of the game.
The Little Shuffle Club follows on from the runaway success of two sell out pop-up seasons of The London Shuffle Club, which featured both deck and table shuffleboard.
The Little Shuffle Club will be UK’s first table shuffleboard dedicated bar featuring two classic shuffleboard tables and one snapback table, which is the first of its kind in the country. The intimate and welcoming space will have capacity for 60 and serve up interesting wines and inventive cocktails alongside pizza from neighbouring food partner, Voodoo Rays.
