What is it?
Did you know that London has a wealth of small and quirky medical museums, including Bethlem Museum of the Mind, the BDA Dental Museum, the Hunterian Museum, the Royal College of Physicians Museum, the Old Operating Theatre and Herb Garret, and the Museum of the Order of St John?
Now you can experience 13 of London’s medical museums all in one place, as the Royal College of Nursing hosts Up Close and Medical on Saturday 28th October. During the daytime, from 2pm to 5pm, visitors will be able to explore each of the medical museums’ collections, test their surgical skills and find out about their family history.
Then, during the evening, guests will be able to enjoy the lighter side of medical history with an evening of comedy. The Up Close and Medical: Open Mic event will feature scary stories from the Science Museum’s medical curators, and poetry for the medically-minded with the Royal College of Nursing’s writer in residence. A bar will also be available during the evening.
Up close and medical is being held as part of the Museums at Night festival, which will be running from Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th October, across UK.
