What is it?
Enjoy a maritime themed weekend in Devon with the Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival. The free festival takes place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September with themed music, activities and entertainment.
The festival will take place across the Old Bus Station car park, harbour and pier. The car park venue will feature a full programme of music over the weekend, with plenty of refreshments available from food vendors. There will also be open mic sessions in the Lifeboat House, courtesy of the RNLI.
The harbour events will include sailing lessons, historic lifeboat trips on the Hampshire Rose, fishing from the pier, and a crabbing competition.
Throughout the weekend there will be street entertainers, including Punch and Judy, the Mermaid storyteller, Captain Jack Sparrow and ‘characters’ from Ilfracombe Holiday Park. There will also be guided walks around parts of the Torrs and Capstone, and porpoise and wildlife watching with the Sea Watch Foundation.
An art exhibition will be held on the Saturday and Sunday in Pip and Jim’s community hall, and a children’s treasure hunt will be taking place.
