Where: Redruth, Cornwall
What is it?
The Redruth International Mining & Pasty Festival will take place in Cornwall from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th September. The three-day family event is held within the Cornish Mining World Heritage site, celebrating the history and community of Redruth.
The festival will kick off on the Friday with Miner’s Day, which will feature an evening of entertainment at St Andrew’s Church.
On the Saturday, Pasty Day, a giant Redruth Pasty will be created in Fore Street. There will also be cookery demonstrations, and food, drink, and craft stalls. Children will be able to make their own pasties, and adults can enjoy hard hat tours of the former Redruth Brewery site. There will also be train rides, games, exhibitions and live music to enjoy.
Sunday is Memorial Day, and features a free family fun day in Victoria Park. The fun day promises children’s entertainment, stalls, refreshments, ice cream, and go karts.
The free heritage coach tours will be returning to this year’s festival. The tours allow visitors to explore some of the hidden treasures of the area, including the National Trust’s East Pool Mine, and Moseley Toy & Train Museum.
